Certified Arborists are professionals

When selecting an arborist, check for ISA arborist certification.

ISA Certified Arborists are experienced professionals who have passed a comprehensive exam covering all aspects of tree care, and who keep their certification current through ongoing education.

Before you hire anyone, ask for:

  • Proof of ISA certification (you can verify it online)
  • A written estimate that explains the work
  • References or photos of past jobs

Be wary of anyone who offers to “top” a tree or uses climbing spikes on a tree that’s being kept. Both cause lasting damage.
